Frequently Asked Questions

What is direct primary care?

Direct primary care is medicine the way it should be.  For a monthly membership fee, you will be a part of something very special.  A purposefully limited practice which allows for direct access to me (every time) via text, email or phone call as well as unlimited patient visits that are as long as they need to be to ensure all of your child's needs are met and all of your questions are answered.  No more rushed appointments.  No more long waits in the office or exam room. It is care that is personalized to your family and your needs.  This type of medical model enhances the patient/family/provider relationship. It also allows you to budget your child's healthcare costs for the year.  It's no hassle healthcare!

Do you take insurance?

I take patients regardless of insurance status.  I take your insurance information as it can be used for the big things like labs, radiology, specialist referrals, and vaccines.  It is also recommended to have insurance coverage for unforeseen issues like emergency department visits, surgeries, or hospitalizations.  I, however, do not bill your insurance directly for any services provided.  All of the care I provide is covered by your membership fees.

3

How do I pay for my membership?

Membership fees are automatically charged monthly to your checking account or credit card. You can use your health savings account (HSA), credit card or checking account. I do recommend that you check with your HSA plan first to ensure coverage (though I have yet to have any issues with patients using their HSA plan).  Since your membership fee is automatically charged, you never have to worry about an unpaid bill or wonder if any insurance claim has been processed or how much you still owe.  Discounts are available for families with 3 or more children.

4

Is this a good model for healthy and/or older children?

My goal is to keep your child healthy and the best way to do this is to be available when you need, as often as you need for all the things that come up with having kids.  All kids, even older ones, will still get sick with that cough or cold that seems to go on forever or may struggle with their mood or need help with sleep or get pink eye right before vacation or need stiches removed.  Isn't it great to know your pediatrician is just a text or call or email away? My goal is to keep your child out of urgent care or the emergency department whenever possible.  This ultimately saves your family money as you don't have to worry about checking in for all of these issues that come up because instead of being charged a visit fee, it is all included in your monthly membership!

5

Do you do home visits?

Not at this time.  However, I have created a beautiful, warm, and inviting space that will feel comfortable for you and your child.

6

Do you see newborns?

Absolutely! I love taking care of newborns/infants and watching them grow.  You can schedule a meet and greet prior to your due date to see if Cactus Bloom Pediatrics is the right fit for you.  If you love what we have to offer, sign up for a membership and I will ensure that your post hospital discharge is smooth sailing by working with you to determine the best days and times for your follow up visits.  We can spend as much time as you need to cover all of the common questions/issues that come up in the newborn period.  Time and schedule permitting, I will stop by the hospital to congratulate you and meet your new bundle of joy and answer any questions you may have prior to discharge.

7

What are your office hours?

When you need me!  I do not have traditional office hours. Instead, I work to see my patients when they need.

8

Do you provide vaccines?

Yes, I am able to provide standard childhood immunizations in the office. Your insurance will be billed for the immunizations.

I am happy to work with families who have questions or concerns related to vaccines, in order to help them find a schedule that feels comfortable for them.  With this model, we have time to ensure your concerns and questions are addressed in a meaningful way. However, I don't take families who are not interested in pursuing vaccines altogether.

9

What is required before signing up?

I kindly ask all prospective patients/families to do a free meet and greet prior to signing up to ensure Cactus Bloom Pediatrics is the right fit!  Meet and greets can be done in office or virtually at your convenience.  Use the link above to schedule at your convenience!

10

What happens if we are out of town and our child gets sick?

You have access to me even when you go on vacation and we can do telehealth appointments when feasible.  I will also do my best to help coordinate care for you when needed.

11

What happens when Dr. Cropp goes on vacation?

I will provide advance notice to my patients for any extended vacations I may take.  If I will not be available during those times, I will work to ensure that there is a covering physician or a plan in place if any issues should arise in my absence.

"Dr.Cropp is AMAZING! The best pediatrician we have had for our little ones, and we’ve had a couple since moving from NY to AZ. She is attentive, kind and really cares. She goes above and beyond to ensure our kiddos have the best care and follows-up when there are concerns. Would highly recommend Dr.Cropp"
